What this one is for
A 3 hour timer is a long exam. Three hours is the classic finals paper and the length of most professional qualifying tests, so it is the block law and medical students measure their practice in.
It is also a slow roast at a low oven, a marathon target for a fast club runner, and a shift you would like to see the end of.
Three hours is long enough that the practicalities matter. The alarm only sounds if this tab is still open, and the wake lock holds the screen on only while the page is in front. Plug the phone in before you start.

Good for
- Three hour exam papers
- Slow roasting a joint
- Long study or writing sessions
- Timing a shift or a drive break

How it runs
Counts down 3 hr, then beeps. Press Start, or hit Space. The digits turn green while a work block runs and grey on rest.
Sound is on by default: a rising pair for work, a falling pair for rest, a tick for the last three seconds and a three-note finish. Mute with the speaker button. The screen stays on while the timer runs and the tab title shows the time left.
Change anything in Settings under the timer. The last setup you used on this page is remembered in your browser.
Questions people ask
- Will it still ring three hours later?
- Yes, as long as this tab is still open. The page runs entirely in your browser, so closing it or restarting the device ends the countdown.
- Will my screen stay on the whole time?
- Only while the page is in the foreground. The wake lock is released when you switch away, so use a charger for a countdown this long.
- Does it drift over three hours?
- No. The remaining time is worked out from timestamps, so it stays exact even after the device sleeps.
- Can I split it into blocks with breaks?
- Yes, the interval timer repeats work and rest pairs, which is closer to how a long exam practice or study session actually runs.
