What this one is for
A 55 minute timer is the therapy hour. Fifty minutes of session plus a few minutes to write notes is how the hour has been carved up for a century, and tutors and coaches borrowed the same trick so the next person is not waiting in the hall.
Fifty five minutes is also a full gym session including the warmup, and a deep work block that still leaves five minutes to stand up before the next meeting.
Press Space to start. The tab title shows the remaining time, which is enough to keep half an eye on without looking at a clock on the wall.

Good for
- A therapy or tutoring hour
- Coaching and consultation slots
- A full training session
- Deep work with a buffer
03
How it runs
Counts down 55 min, then beeps. Press Start, or hit Space. The digits turn green while a work block runs and grey on rest.
Sound is on by default: a rising pair for work, a falling pair for rest, a tick for the last three seconds and a three-note finish. Mute with the speaker button. The screen stays on while the timer runs and the tab title shows the time left.
Change anything in Settings under the timer. The last setup you used on this page is remembered in your browser.
Questions people ask
- Why is a therapy hour 55 minutes?
- The convention leaves the practitioner time to write notes and reset between clients. Fifty and fifty five minute sessions are both common.
- Can the client see the time too?
- Put the tab in fullscreen and the digits are readable from across a room, or leave it in the tab title if you would rather be discreet.
- Will it still beep in the background?
- The countdown stays exact because it reads timestamps. The beep plays while the tab is open, or the instant you switch back to it.
- Can I set a full hour instead?
- Yes, edit the duration or open the 60 minute page.
