What this one is for
A 5 second timer is the pause between reps. Five seconds at the top of a squat or hanging off a bar is enough to reset your breathing without letting the set cool off, and it is the standard hold in tempo work written as a five count.
Five seconds is also a breath hold at the top of an inhale, and the countdown before someone starts recording.
Press Space to start. It beeps at zero, which is all a five second timer really has to do.

Good for
- Short rest between reps
- Tempo holds at the top of a lift
- Breath holds on the inhale
- A countdown to go
03
How it runs
Counts down 5 sec, then beeps. Press Start, or hit Space. The digits turn green while a work block runs and grey on rest.
Sound is on by default: a rising pair for work, a falling pair for rest, a tick for the last three seconds and a three-note finish. Mute with the speaker button. The screen stays on while the timer runs and the tab title shows the time left.
Change anything in Settings under the timer. The last setup you used on this page is remembered in your browser.
Questions people ask
- Can I repeat it automatically?
- Yes. The interval timer loops work and rest pairs, so a five second rest can fire again and again without you touching anything.
- Is five seconds long enough to hear the beep?
- Yes, the beep is an oscillator tone generated on the spot, so there is no file to load and no delay.
- Can I change the duration?
- Yes, set any number of seconds, or use the 7 and 10 second pages.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes, after the first load it runs entirely in your browser.
